How better
design can add value
to your business

It is a fact, investing in the design of your business will pay back. I see it as dressing for success. You would not attend a meeting with a client dressed poorly would you? Well, what about your logo or website who are the main face of your company? Are they representing your business appropriately? Is your company giving the best first impression possible on your target market?
With today’s people short attention span, you have less than 3 seconds to make this first impression on someone, after that, if they are not impressed or interested enough, they will move on and may choose your competitor instead. That is one of the reasons why in the long run it pays to care about the design of your company.
I would like to share an interesting website with you: www.designfactfinder.co.uk. It offers facts and case studies about the value of design in relation to business performance. Although the research is from the UK, the facts and conclusions are applicable to businesses in Canada.
Some interesting quotes from the site:
• Businesses that see design as integral don't need to compete on price as much as others.
• In businesses where design is integral to operations, over three quarters say they’ve increased their competitiveness and turnover through design
• The link between design and better business performance.
• Why it pays to measure return on design investment.
• Rapidly growing businesses are three times more likely than the rest to consider design crucial to success.
